# Activate Membership

> Process for activating a user's membership within the Creditor Portal.

## Purpose

Activate Membership is the final step that moves a creditor from setup or plan selection into active membership access.

## How It Should Work

* It should confirm that the creditor has selected a membership plan.
* It should confirm that required billing or payment setup is complete before activation.
* It should make the active membership state clear to the creditor.
* It should preserve the creditor account, company profile, and billing context during activation.

## How It Should Not Work

* It should not activate a membership without the required plan and billing information.
* It should not activate the wrong creditor company.
* It should not hide payment or verification failures.
* It should not grant full access when required setup blockers still apply.

## Developer Notes

* Membership activation affects access, billing, setup completion, and downstream account processing.
* Treat activation as a state transition that must be auditable and scoped to the current creditor.
