CFPB Validation Letters are generated during the Add + CFPB workflow.
Generation occurs during account processing, but delivery occurs through the Communications system.
Key Rule
CFPB Validation Letters are generated automatically but are never delivered automatically.
Creditors must choose a delivery method.
How It Should Work
- It should generate CFPB Validation Letters during eligible account import processing.
- It should keep generated letters available for later delivery decisions.
- It should require the creditor to choose how and when delivery occurs.
How It Should Not Work
- It should not automatically deliver validation letters immediately after generation.
- It should not deliver letters to consumers who are opted out of the selected delivery method.
- It should not lose the link between the generated letter, consumer account, and creditor import.
