Real-World Example

ABC Collections does not have compatible processor credentials yet. Merchant Settings shows the Request New Merchant API card directly, so the primary creditor can submit a request without waiting for a rejection state or starting a separate provider onboarding flow.

Visual Flow

How It Should Work

  • It should display the Request New Merchant API card directly on Merchant Settings.
  • It should let only an authorized primary creditor submit the request.
  • It should prevent duplicate requests and show the existing request status after submission.
  • It should keep payment processing blocked until supported gateway credentials are verified.

How It Should Not Work

  • It should not hide the request card behind a company rejection status.
  • It should not let consumers pay through an incomplete merchant account.
  • It should not mix credentials between Authorize.net, Stripe, and USAePay.
  • It should not create multiple open merchant API requests for the same company.
